Приєднався 8 лис 2011
I mainly fish in saltwater and brackish water along the New Jersey Coast. Just started an Instagram account (609.fishing) specifically for this channel. I'll show a couple of my catches each time I go out fishing and show what lure or bait I caught them on. Best of luck fishing!

How far down are your dropping your jig?
Depends on tide & water temp. They move alot
Nice! Are you putting that bottom sweeper all the way on the bottom or mid water column?
@@mattsandy2047 working various depths. Water Temp & Tide dictates where I’m fishing in reference to water column. For Example - middle of tide (more current) I’ll fish higher up.

@609Fishing Had a savage sheep bite Saturday. 10 in about 3hrs, tons of fun, biggest at 26in approx 13lbs! Fight was insane. But I feel same way, time to change up. Looking into the NK 300 motor for ocean trips. Wanna hit some near shore structure. Gotta figure out best mounting options. Good to your having fun too!

@609Fishing Thanks, I'm Gonna need it so I don't have to call sea tow, or tow yaks r us. LOL! Good luck to you as well. 😁
What fish bites do you use and is it worth it? I was thinking about using fish bites because the stock of cut bait and shrimp always runs out when i want to go fishing.

Really enjoy your content man. I’m planning to try to catch my first one this week. I plan to use bottom sweeper jigs baited with fiddlers, sand fleas ans maybe some green crabs if i can buy some. Will be in Sea isle/Avalon area aa well as N Wildwood. No kayak but access to a seadoo that is set to fish. Do you have any pointers? Best tide guessing is dead low or high but not moving? Any input would be super appreciated. Keep up the great videos.
Appreciate it. Fiddlers and sand flees is a good place to start - personally. I’ve never done well with green crab, but that’s just me. Good luck.

New to saltwater but plenty of freshwater experience. Ideal hook size for kingfish ?
@@geoffpacker1582 I like size 8 but anything 4-8 should suffice
@@609Fishing thanks, gonna give it a go this week
Hello 609! I’m curious, how do you use/work those bottom sweeper jigs? I tried using them for Black Drum here in NC and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get a good enough bite
I use them similar to how you would fish a Carolina or Knocker Rig. What bait were you using?
That second pickerel probably had a crawfish in its stomach. Especially if it was hard. Pickerel love crawfish.
@@noodlechicken4169 never knew that
Did those T knot tubes come with the hi-lo rig ?
@@randyneusch5648 yes, they definitely make a difference
Perfect timing. Last night I started researching this type of fishing in NJ but didn't find much. Most of the info is about pompano. If you are actively fishing with rod in hand, does holding bottom matter that much? Could't you just take in slack when it moves towards you and then cast again once it gets too close. Newbie here but learning a lot from you. Thx
Holding bottom can be important, if there’s a ton of current - it tends to drag the rig parallel to beach. I’ve caught them drifting before so movement doesn’t spook them. My only concern without holding is the rig not being where the fish are
👍👍..........
🤝🤝
Looks like a dinner. What size hooks are you using? I'll be down in your area Tuesday with my boys. Debating whether to try for kings in the surf or croakers in some back bay area near Avalon/Stone Harbor. I hear the bays are flooded with them, although we will be fishing from land.
Both are great options, I’d hit the bay first & if it doesn’t produce- the beach is only a short drive away. At least you’re using the same rigs & bait for both species.
Where is that place ?
Near Naples
Doesnt it ruin the whole e perience of fishing when you have all those gadgets
No - the depth finder is very useful, the information it provides helps me determine what I should be doing
Giving sheeps a try tomorrow for the first time I’m pumped I’ll be down south Jersey buddy gave me some spots 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Good luck 👍
@@609Fishing had some stuff come up replanned for next saturday
That's rough I got way more
👍
What’s the main thing you look for when picking a spot to fish specifically for striped bass? Like how are you strictly catching stripers (besides 1)
Honestly a ton of different factors (water temp & tide phase are huge factors that I take into account). Stripers are fairly simple to find, just need to find the correct temperatures & the bait they are feeding on.
Croakers?
@@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis 👍
